How to install a small decal

Posted by Tammie Fischer on

The great thing about small easter egg decals is that you can put them literally anywhere!  Most of our decals are placed on SUV windows, or windshields, but they can also be added to coffee cups, laptops, phones and anywhere else you want to add a splash of personality!  And they can be removed just as easily!

First, here are some tips to make sure you decal sticks properly:

1. For the best results, the surface temperature should be a minimum of 65o F and no more than 90o F (70o F to 75o F is ideal) in order for the liquid under the decal to evaporate, and to prevent bubbling, stretching, cracking, and adhering difficulties.

2. The surface must be properly prepared and cleaned prior to installation.
Wash the surface with a little bit of detergent like automobile soap, or dish soap and water, or you could use glass cleaner, then thoroughly rinse the surface with water and dry completely. Vinyl will not stick if any soap residue remains.

3. Saturate a clean cloth with rubbing or isopropyl alcohol and wipe the surface of the vehicle where the vinyl is to be applied to remove any remaining contaminates such as silicone, wax, or adhesives, and dry the surface with a lint free paper towel.

WARNING: Do not use any solvents such as acetone, M.E.K., toluene, paint thinner; lacquer thinner, gasoline or ammonia-based cleaners.  Any of these can and will damage your surface.

Now, here is how to apply your decal sticker for a successful installation:

Clean you surface.
1. Clean. As directed above in the tips, clean the surface you are applying the decal to with a mild cleaner. Wipe with isopropyl alcohol, then allow to dry.

 2. Peel. Carefully peel off the backing layer from the decal. (Only the vinyl and the clear transfer layer should
remain).

3. Apply. Place your decal on the surface.  Use a credit card to rub and smooth the decal onto the surface.

4. Remove. Carefully remove the clear transfer layer by peeling it off starting from the corner. (only the vinyl decal
should remain).
